Honda will be unveiling the latest version of ASIMO (the Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, better known as the really awesome humanoid robot from Honda) in North America on Tuesday, April 15—something to brighten up those tax day blues. The North American debut will happen on LIVE with Kelly and Michael.
During the nationally syndicated talk show with hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan, ASIMO will show off its all-new moves from improvements in hand dexterity. For example, the humanoid robot will be signing in both Japanese and American sign language. On top of that, ASIMO can now run faster and climb stairs more smoothly. Add to the list hopping, jumping, and balancing on one foot, and you’ve got a robot who means business.
“ASIMO was designed to help those in society who need assistance, and Honda believes that these improvements in ASIMO bring us another step closer to our ultimate goal of being able to help all kinds of people in need,” said Satoshi Shigemi, Senior Chief Engineer with Honda R&D Co., Ltd. in Japan, responsible for humanoid robotics.
After ASIMO’s debut, the robot will show off its talents before national tech and science media in the Big Apple.
